From 1976 to 1979, Magali Lara studied Visual Arts at the National School of Plastic Arts.

Since 1994, it is part of the program of the National System of Creators of the National Council for Culture and the Arts. As a member of the System she has been a graphic tutor from 2004 to 2006.

In 1981, she participated as a curator in the first exhibition of women contemporary Mexican artists that took place at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in West Berlin.
His work is in collections such as Museum of Modern Art, in New York, USA, Stedelijk Museum voor Actuale Kunst in Brussels, Belgium. Archivo Lafuente, Cantabria, Spain, as well as in the Mexican Art Gallery, Carrillo Gil Art Museum, National Bank of Mexico and the most recent one in the University Museum of Contemporary Art.
