Nelson DOMÍNGUEZ

Born: 1947, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.

Education: 1970 National School of Art, Cuba.

Experience: 1970 - 1985 Professor National School of Art, Cuba. He has been Professor of painting and engraving and head of the Painting Department of the Higher Institute of Art (ISA). Member of the Union of Writers of Cuba and the International Association of Plastic Artists.

Awards: Among the awards and recognitions that the Cuban artist has received are: Order for National Culture, Cuba; Order Alejo Carpentier, Cuba; Diploma and Order of Honor from the Fuji Museum, Japan. In 1972, he received the National Prize at the International Painting Festival in Cagnes-sur-mer, France; 1976 Grand Prix, International Biennial of Wood Engraving, Banska Bystrika, Czechoslovakia and Painting Prize, Triennial of Committed Realist Art, Sofia, Bulgaria; Honor Prize, Graphic Biennial, India, as well as at the Jaime Guasch Biennial in Barcelona, ​​Spain.

Exhibitions: He has had numerous personal exhibitions. In 1983 he made the exhibition "Retrospective (10 years of professional work)" at the National Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts of Cuba, in 1984 at the Francoise Tournie Gallery in Paris; in 1985 he did it at the National Welfare Organization in Athens, Greece and in 1986 at the Gallery del l 'Incisione in Venice, Italy. During the eighties and nineties his work was shown in Brazil, Italy, Puerto Rico, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the United States, Cuba and Mexico. In 2001 he was given an individual exhibition at the Hotel Trip Cayo Coco in Cuba.

Premios: Entre los premios y reconocimientos que el artista cubano ha recibido están: Orden por la Cultura Nacional, Cuba; Orden Alejo Carpentier, Cuba; Diploma y Orden de Honor del Museo Fuji, Japón. En 1972, recibe el Premio Nacional en el Festival Internacional de Pintura en Cagnes-sur-mer, Francia; 1976 Grand Prix, Bienal Internacional de Grabado en madera, Banska Bystrika, Checoslovaquia y Premio de Pintura, Trienal de Arte Realista Comprometido, Sofía, Bulgaria; Premio Honor, Bienal de Gráfica, la India, así como en la Bienal Jaime Guasch de Barcelona, España.

Exposiciones: Ha tenido numerosas exposiciones personales. En 1983 realizó la muestra “Retrospectiva (10 años de trabajo profesional)” en el Museo Nacional del Palacio de Bellas Artes de Cuba, en 1984 en la Galería Francoise Tournie de París; en 1985 lo hace en la National Welfare Organization de Atenas, Grecia y en 1986 en la Galería del l’ Incisione de Venecia, Italia. Durante los ochentas y noventas su obra se mostró en Brasil, Italia, Puerto Rico, Japón, México, España, Estados Unidos, Cuba y México. En el 2001 se le efectúa una exposición individual en el Hotel Trip Cayo Coco en Cuba.
