Born in 1939, Havana, Cuba and died in 2019 in Miami, FL.

Education: From 1955 he studied at the National School of Fine Arts "San Alejandro", Havana and from the same year 1955 to 1957 at the School of Arts and Crafts, Havana, Cuba.

Experience: In the period 1964-1983 he worked as Graphic Designer. Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and since 1971, 1978 as a professor of Design. School of Architecture, Higher Polytechnic Institute "José Antonio Echeverría", Havana, Cuba. In 1992 he served as jury of the Second International Poster Biennial of Mexico. In 1996 he was a member of the Organizing Committee of the Fourth International Poster Biennial of Mexico.

Shows: In 1977 he presented the personal exhibition, "Las manos de Azcuy" Sala Rubén Martínez Villena, UNEAC Gallery, Havana, Cuba. In the year 1988 he shows "Affiches de René Azcuy" Maison de L'Amérique Latine, Paris, France.

Awards: Among the prizes and distinctions that he has obtained are: 1966 Poster Award. World Chess Olympiad, Havana, CUBA; 1968 Prize Poster and Printed Logo. Cultural Congress of Havana; 1974 Prize. International Film Poster Exhibition. FILMEXPO. Ottawa, Canada; First prize. International Film Poster Competition "The Hollywood Report", Los Angeles, California, USA. UU; 1984 Distinction for the National Culture, Council of State, Republic of Cuba; First Prize Coral. VI Latin American Poster Competition. VI International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, Havana; 1992 Third Prize. America Today. 500 Years Later 2nd. International Biennial of the Mexico 92 Poster, AP Gallery, Faculty of Plastic Arts, Universidad Veracruzana, Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.
